Bike Tour Waterland

Volendam - Marken - Edam - Moninckendam - Broek in Waterland - Durgerdam

The swampy bog land between the polders de Wormer, de Purmer en de Beemster en the IJ is called Waterland. Holland’s best known features for tourists are found on the edge of Waterland where the IJsselmeer is called Gouwzee. Like pearls on a necklace from north to south there is Edam, Volendam and Monnickendam and finally on the other side of the Gouwzee, Marken, the former island. Do not forget the small villages Broek in Waterland, Zuiderwoude and Durgerdam, they are not so touristy but also very beautiful.
The best way to explore this real Holland is by bike, and it is very easy with using the bicycle junction network. We propose three bike tours, 29 km, 37 km or 47 km. All three are starting at the Amsterdam Centralstation.

Start tour A, B and C
The start is at the north side of the Amsterdam Central Station, here you take the ferry-boat to Amsterdam-North. The first 6 km you follow the signs:

Durgerdam or Schellingwoude.
Just before the viaduct of the speedway "the ring of Amsterdam" you will see the first signs of the bicycle junction network:

Knooppunt 46

From here you have to follow the numbers of your bike tour.
